RICHMOND, VA (April 16, 2018) – The Boys Elite Clubs National League (Boys ECNL) is excited to announce that Oklahoma Celtic Soccer Club will be joining the Boys ECNL in the 2018-2019 season in the Texas Conference.

Oklahoma Celtic was founded in 1976 and is the oldest soccer club in the state. The club has tripled in size over the past eight years, and is currently undergoing an $11 million complex renovation that will create a premier facility for both training and competition. Oklahoma Celtic is known for developing great soccer players and teams, and has seen a consistent stream of alums move on to college soccer and beyond. Most recently, former Celtic standout Mauro Cichero was drafted by FC Dallas in the 2018 MLS Draft.  Cichero was a Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Award Finalist while at Southern Methodist University (SMU).

“Oklahoma Celtic is proud to join the Boys ECNL and the ENPL,” said Don Rother, Executive Director for Oklahoma Celtic. “The quality and professionalism of the league will create the highest level of competition and create the greatest exposure to college coaches for our players.  We look forward to the opportunity of working and competing with the nation’s top soccer clubs in the Boys ECNL and ENPL.”

The Boys ECNL was founded to provide a top level, club-based development, training, and competition platform for youth male soccer players, with conference competition in six age groups (U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U18/19) and pronounced collegiate exposure through the Boys ECNL National Events. In addition to the competition platform, the Boys ECNL offers player identification and development opportunities for top players in every conference, unique coaching education, and club development programs.

We are excited to welcome Oklahoma Celtic into the Boys ECNL Texas Conference,” said Nick Kasper, Boys ECNL Director. “The history, leadership, and ability to develop players makes this a fantastic addition to the Boys ECNL.”

Oklahoma Celtic Soccer Club will begin formal competition in the Boys ECNL in August 2018. Additional new clubs will be announced in the Boys ECNL in the coming weeks.
