ECNL BOYS SIZING UP THE COMPETITION AT ECNL TEXAS

ECNL Boys is heading down south for ECNL Texas this weekend, where more than 30 clubs and 100 teams will battle it out just a few months from the beginning of the ECNL Boys National Playoffs. With the postseason looming, national events like ECNL Texas allow clubs to test themselves against the best in the country and gear up for, hopefully, a long playoff run.

The ECNL National Selection Game, powered by Beyond Pulse, will continue in Round Rock this weekend, pitting some of the best and brightest the league has to offer against each other. The ECNL Texas National Selection Game will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. on Field 2 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. With so many great teams and clubs participating at ECNL Texas, there are more than a few highly-anticipated matches. 

One of the most intriguing clubs at the U15 level is Sporting Iowa out of the Heartland Conference. The team has seen a great deal of success in the club’s first season of ECNL play, sitting atop the North Division of the conference with a 9-0-1 record, and the only club with zero losses in more than five games played. At ECNL Texas, the team’s first-ever national event, Sporting Iowa will face Tulsa SC, DKSC and Oklahoma Energy, all Texas Conference clubs that are near the top of the standings. 

At the U16 level, one of the teams to watch is Tulsa SC. The Oklahoma-based club ranks second in the North Division of the Texas Conference and is one of three teams in its division currently holding down a Champions League spot. At ECNL Texas, Tulsa SC will face SLSG – IL, Santa Clara Sporting and FC Wisconsin, three clubs with very distinct playing styles that will present new challenges and tough competition all weekend.  

FC Dallas has been a force in the U17s this season, and at ECNL Texas, it will be more of the same. The team is first in the North Division of the Texas Conference, largely due to the team’s stellar defense which has allowed just 13 goals on the year, one of the lowest totals in the conference. That defense will be tested at ECNL Texas though, as the team goes up against La Roca, SLSG – MO and Real Colorado.
